Fire Hydrants. The City of Woodcreek congratulates the Wimberley Valley Fire Department for reaching an agreement to allow the Fire Department’s use of hydrants in the city for fire suppression. Chief Carroll Czichos and ATI President signed the Memorandum of Understanding on November 20. Read the memorandum HERE The top portion of the fire hydrants (referred to as the "bonnet") are being painted to correspond to the estimated water flow from the hydrant as called for in the Memorandum of Understanding. This will help the Wimberley VFD know the potential for available water from each fire hydrant. Each hydrant is being tested or assessed for flows before the bonnet is being painted. Green represents an estimated flow of 1,000 GPM (gallons per minute) or greater; Yellow represents an estimated flow of 500 GPM to 1,000 GPM; and Red represents an estimated flow below 500 GPM. The body of the fire hydrant will remain black. |
